His First Pinewood Derby
Joe and Jake enjoyed some really wonderful bonding during their first
pinewood derby together. Jake began the design with a pencil
drawing, which his daddy showed him how to transfer onto the block of
wood. They worked on it many nights and weekends until it was just
as Jake wanted it.
Jake won his first 2 pinewood derby races, but I think he got the
biggest complement when a couple of fourth or fifth graders asked to see
his car. When he showed it to them, they said "Hey that's
better than ours". That is pretty much the pinnacle of a
complement to a first grader!
