In the late 1990's, Dr. Grupenhoff, a retired college professor, became interested in his German heritage and family genealogy.  He found his roots in Osnabrueck, Germany, which he has visited numerous times.  In his research he soon came to realize that many Germans in Ohio came from this northern Germany region.  Recently he began researching the movement of newly-arrived Germans from Cincinnati to the towns of Minster, New Bremen, and New Knoxville.

Two years ago, on a trip to this area, he conceived of an idea to write an article on the German migration to the area.  It is in relation to this article that he will speak.

Tickets for this event cost $12.00 and can be purchased at the Village Market or the New Knoxville Library by April 2nd.  Anyone from out of town may contact Edythe Henschen by phone at 419-753-2104 or by email at beep@nktelco.net.

Anyone not wanting to attend the dinner may attend just the business meeting and and hear the speaker for the evening.

 Purpose

In the Spring of 1984, the New Knoxville Historical Society
was formed to "preserve items, sites and information of
historical value pertinent to the Village of New Knoxville
and Washington Township."

The object of the society is to discover, collect, preserve,
restore and acquire, by purchase or gift, any historical
objects, records, articles or other memorabilia relating to
New Knoxville and the Auglaize County area.  It will publish
books and other printed materials and maintain accurate
records of all memorable events and historical celebrations
relating to the progress and history of New Knoxville.

On-Going Brick Project

Our Memorial Brick Monument and Walkways will be a lasting memorial for our future generations.  This project is to help with maintenance and other New Knoxville Historical Society projects.  Add a brick to be engraved in memory of a family member or special event.
