Calendar of EventsThe German Heritage Museum, consisting of five buildings, is open to the public the last Sunday of each month, May through October from 1-5 pm. Excerpt from New Knoxville Fall Village Voice Attic treasures have recently been discovered and are now on display at Heritage Center. Join us Sunday, August 29, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Everyone is welcomed! People inquire about the concrete post in front of Dr. Fledderjohann's office -- a brick nearby reads, "LAST SURVIVING HORSE TIE HITCHING POST FROM 206 S. MAIN" (now Attorney Thomas H. Katterheinrich's office). If anyone has pictures of old hitching posts, please contact us. Years ago, they were a common sight. Another brick reads, "ZELLA'S HANDPRINTS ARE ON THE TOP STEP". If you look very closely you can make out the imprints. This was done in 1904 as indicated on another brick. Heritage Center has almost 300 bricks, all of which are inspiring and a lasting memorial to our loved ones or to a special event. We have forms available for ordering on our website! MARK YOUR CALENDAR! Our annual Autumn Heritage Day is Sunday, September 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will again have Mike Neuman's famous, delicious, open-kettle chili, cider, and pumpkin donuts. Also, its "ALL ABOARD" for tours on Gary Katterheinrich's Freedom Train. This will be an enjoyable day and the public is welcomed! We give a sincere thanks for your continuing support. Ladbergen Visitors
Pictured: Margrit Haase; New Knoxville Mayor Keith Leffel and daughter Morgan; Arthur Haase; Martje Fiege; Dana Kathmann The Haase family, Arthur and Margrit Haase along with granddaughter Martje Fiege and niece Dana Kathmann, visited New Knoxville, the sister city of Ladbergen, in July. While in New Knoxville, they worshipped in the First United Church of Christ, the daughter church of the Evangelical Reformed church in Ladbergen. At the service a letter of greetings from Jorg Winkelstroter, Pastor of the Ladbergen church, was read. On Sunday afternoon they attended the open house of New Knoxville’s Heritage Center where they presented New Knoxville’s Mayor Keith Leffel with a letter of greetings from Ladbergen’s Burgermeister Udo Decker-Koenig. While here the family visited relatives and friends and toured the Neil Armstrong Museum.
